The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria Corpus Christi Parish Bende in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State today Sunday, September 11, 2022 presented a recognition award to the Vice President of the Area of Bende local government, Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro.
Presenting the award at the Church’s Youth Day celebration which just ended today, the parish priest, the Most Reverend Father Francis Okpara, said the youth of the church observed Vice President’s political trajectory and found him worthy of an award.
“I was happy when they told me that you were the vice-president of Bende, before now the people who normally take this position are people in red caps, but it is a welcome development that young people have now opportunity to serve”
Speaking further, Church Youth President, Brother Okorie Chukwu Emmanuel said the title of the award follows the fact that the Honorable Promise Uzoma Okoro is the youngest Vice President in the history of Bende local government area.
“Our choice of the award is because it’s on record that you’re the youngest vice president in Bende’s history, that’s a spell you broke,” he said.
In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Promise Uzoma Okoro, advised young people in the Catholic Church and young Nigerians to prepare for leadership positions because, according to him , “the age of youth has arrived”.
The Vice President recalled that as a young elected Vice President, he behaved because his success or failure determines more opportunities for other young people in Bende Local Government Area .
“When I was elected vice president, I told myself that if I failed, I would block other opportunities for other young people, but my success will pave the way for my fellow young people, and to God be the glory that I have not failed” he said.
He thanked the young people for the recognition of the award while congratulating them on their youth day.
