ROCKLAND – The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA), 21 Winter St., is hosting an adult watercolor workshop led by local artist Annie Bailey in person over two back-to-back sessions on Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. . Participants in “Expressive Mark Making Through Watercolor” will explore the versatile medium of watercolor and various approaches to mark making that will form the basis for creating a series of collages. Bailey will inspire her class by referencing works currently on display, primarily by artists Nicola López in “Visions, Phantoms, and Apparitions” and Jennie C. Jones in “Walk the Line.”
Cost is $125 for CMCA members and $150 for non-members. All materials are provided for this workshop and registration is required by Friday, February 25. Subscribe to cmcanow.org under the Events tab.
Bailey is a Tenants Harbor born and raised multimedia visual artist. Described as “oscillating between abstraction and impressionistic realism”, her work celebrates the range of her creative potential, from control to chaos.
All workshop participants are required to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask while inside the CMCA. For any questions or concerns, contact Mia Bogyo, Education Program Manager, at [email protected]
