Community Engagement Walk | New

The Danville Police Department will be in the southeast sector of town on Seeland Road on Monday, August 15 at 5 p.m. The DPD will meet at the intersection of Seeland Road and Jones Xing. The DPD’s mission is to provide quality service to the community through a process of continuous improvement. We will maintain a safe environment for all by protecting life, liberty and property through partnerships with citizens and businesses. To further this mission, our Community and Youth Engagement Unit was created. Officers assigned to this unit focus on several areas: crime prevention, community education, youth and community engagement, and harm and nuisance reduction. Our community engagement walks are coordinated by the Community and Youth Engagement Unit.

The goal of our community engagement walks is to build public trust and develop positive relationships between officers and community members. The DPO will visit a particular neighborhood, meet and greet the resident and let them know we are here to help. We hope to get information from neighbors about concerns in their neighborhood, for example, if there is litter in the area, a building nuisance, etc. The DPO will actively listen to citizen issues and resolve issues within the community.
