Community workshop for homelessness | Mirage News

On Wednesday May 11, 2022, Shoalhaven Town Council held a Community Workshop on Homelessness. The workshop brought together over 50 community members who represented local government, social services, businesses, community groups and people with lived experience of homelessness. The workshop focused on leveraging the strengths of our community to develop actions to help those experiencing homelessness or harm from it.

It was great to see the enthusiasm build throughout the day as attendees held stimulating conversations. The workshop produced several interesting outcomes, including opportunities for community members in attendance to network and connect with key stakeholders.

The workshop encouraged creative solutions to local issues and laid the groundwork for collaborative community approaches to filling gaps.

The Community Workshop for Homelessness laid the foundation for a collaborative community approach to addressing homelessness in the Shoalhaven and the strengths and creative solutions that were identified through the workshop are now being used to form a plan.

Shoalhaven City Council is delighted to continue working with the community to address homelessness and support those who are roughing it in Shoalhaven.
