PUHI – As many local employers look to fill vacancies, including thousands of critical healthcare jobs across the state, University of Hawaii Community Colleges continue to offer Free, short-term training leading to industry credentials in resilient healthcare, technology, and skilled trades through the Hana Career Pathways program.
PUHI – As many local employers look to fill vacancies, including thousands of critical healthcare jobs across the state, University of Hawaii Community Colleges continue to offer Free, short-term training leading to industry credentials in resilient healthcare, technology, and skilled trades through the Hana Career Pathways program.
Applications for fall trainings are now available on the Hana Career Pathways website, https://uhcc.hawaii.edu/reimagine/.
A variety of sessions of varying lengths offered from August through December include Certified Health Care Nurse Aide, IT certifications, and courses such as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and Air Conditioning Certification. arborist in the skilled trades, all leading to potential pathways to paid employment and apprenticeship.
“Employers are stepping up their collaboration with UH community colleges to fill important, well-paying jobs across the state,” said UH Vice President for Community Colleges Erika Lacro.
“We hope our Hawaiian residents take advantage of this free training opportunity, with hands-on experiences and support services, to find employment in an exciting new field or to advance their careers.”
The Hana Career Pathways program prepares students to apply for registered apprenticeships and related degree programs, and connects students with work-based learning opportunities such as paid internships and guaranteed interviews with local employers.
More than $2 million in Hana Career Pathways funding from the U.S. Department of Education is available for tuition this year.
Eligible candidates receive tuition assistance for courses and other training costs such as books and industry certification exam fees.
The program is free for most eligible participants, as many courses offer a 100% subsidy to cover all costs. Complementary services are also offered to students, including advice on college and professional studies, referrals to community partners offering support services and other financial aid.
Most of the training is done online, with some lab work and on-campus internship required. Online registration is also required.
