Get Into Recycle – Innovation Network Community Engagement Program

During its 26 years of operation, Innovation Networks has been involved in several community initiatives and has taken part in important causes.

RICHMOND, BC, CANADA, March 30, 2022 / — Innovation Networks Inc, a managed services provider located in Richmond, British Columbia, has been serving businesses across North America since 1996, providing a range of IT services, including managed IT services, IT outsourcing and technical support.

During its 26 years of operation, Innovation Networks has been involved in several community initiatives and has taken part in important causes. A central element of our corporate culture is what we can do in return for our company.

Innovation Networks runs the “Get INto Recycle” initiative, which began in 2007 and continues each year. This program is employer-led, but volunteer-based. Under this program, the company collects good quality used computers and refurbishes them for donation to individuals, non-profits and for-profit organizations in need. By providing beneficiaries with access to current technology, the initiative has created a positive impact on BC communities in addition to the environment. The program plays a fundamental role in minimizing environmental damage and reducing the amount of electronic waste while being able to support communities.

This full-cycle program begins with Innovation Networks encouraging donations of used equipment from customers and partners that could still be refurbished. This call to action raises awareness of alternatives to recycling equipment. The computers are then evaluated by the technical team and the company orders the parts needed to refurbish them. Finally, a delivery or pick-up is coordinated, so the donation is made directly by Innovation Networks. Over the years they have been donated to students, Christmas funds, seniors and non-profit organizations.

Over the years we have received incredible feedback from recipients of these computers. Here is an email from the program manager of one of the nonprofits we support through the program, Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland:

Hello team,
Thanks again for dropping off and picking up (no more computers to refurbish) last week. A family picked up a computer on Wednesday night and I just wanted to share the email below. She is an 11th grade student. The impact of your kindness reverberates throughout our community, thank you!

“Thank you very much for the computer. It would be a great help for me as it will help me finish my homework. Please thank the donors as it was very kind of them to support young students like me so that we can be the best at what we do without their help with the computer I would have had to go to the library which is difficult in these times of Covid so again please thank them sincerely I am happy to be part of the Big Sisters program because they also support young women like me.

About the Big Sisters of the Lower Mainland of British Columbia

Since 1960, the Big Sisters of the Lower Mainland of British Columbia (Big Sisters) have changed the course of young people’s lives by providing supportive developmental relationships (mentors) to young people in our community who need someone the most. ‘a. They support female-identifying youth who may face challenges such as bullying, isolation, poverty, anxiety, low self-esteem, and more. Their social workers carefully match them with adult female mentors who help them overcome adversity, make healthy choices and reach their full potential. On average, more than 800 young people benefit from participating in their mentoring programs each year.

The 3 main mentoring programs:

BIG SISTERS MENTORING: A 1:1 mentoring program that pairs young people with a caring, caring adult. This weekly meeting focuses on activities that enhance social-emotional development and build a relationship based on trust and common interests.

STUDY BUDDY: A weekly 1:1 mentorship program focused on schoolwork. Students in this program not only improve their academic performance, but also report a higher level of self-esteem, better social interaction with their peers, and increased pursuit of post-secondary education.

GO GIRLS! HEALTHY BODIES, HEALTHY MINDS: an eight-week group mentoring program designed to encourage physical activity, healthy eating and the development of a positive self-image.
