MACAU, Oct. 27 – In order to continue promoting the professional and international development of the MICE industry, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has organized an online MICE industry training on October 26, themed “Market Brief – Asia Pacific”. International industry experts were invited to the event to share and exchange experiences with attendees, allowing attendees to grasp new trends in the MICE market at across time zones and regions. The event attracted 30 MICE industry representatives from the mainland and Macau, as well as teachers and students from local universities and citizens to participate online.
Deepen knowledge and expand international clientele
To help local industry learn more about the development of the international MICE market, this online training invited GainingEdge lead partner from Australia and MICE expert from IPIM Mike Williams, and Business Development Manager for South East Asia from GainingEdge Esther Ng from Singapore, to talk about the current situation of the MICE market in South East Asian countries, Australia and New Zealand, as well as challenges and opportunities on Asia-Pacific MICE markets.
Prepare for more MICE business guests
Speakers predict that the 4e quarter of each year is the peak season for MICE events in the Asia-Pacific region. According to their analysis, commute times for business travelers are currently longer in general than before the pandemic. Macau provides enough hardware and software facilities for MICE events, as well as various Chinese and Western world cultural heritage attractions, providing MICE business customers with more space for exploration. It is recommended that Macau make full use of its existing resources to further improve its ability to accommodate MICE business travelers in the future.
Continue to promote Macau as an ideal MICE destination
In April, September and October this year, IPIM organized a total of three online training sessions for the MICE industry, attracting more than 120 participants. The first two online sessions attracted nearly 1,400 views; event themes include: Market Brief – Mainland China, MICE Event Data Analysis – New Event Patterns and Market Brief – Asia-Pacific, keeping abreast of the latest MICE industry trends.
Some students majoring in the MICE industry said that the training sessions helped them understand the development trends of the MICE industry and the international market position of Macao’s MICE industry. They also express their hope to engage in the MICE industry after graduation. In the future, IPIM will continue to organize various types of online workshops, inviting MICE consultants and industry experts to share practical knowledge about the MICE industry or introduce international MICE trends. It aims to continue to provide support to the MICE industry, and at the same time it will increase industry knowledge, promoting professional development in the industry. IPIM will also encourage local industry to promote Macau as an ideal MICE destination, in order to attract more major MICE events to be held in Macau.
