TEXARKANA – The Just Love and Kindness organization sponsors Local Youth Film Days at the Brightstar Theater.
The films are free and will air today and Wednesday for children and their parents.
“We wanted to give the kids something to do while they’re not at school. Something to keep them out of trouble,” said Laura Klein of Just Love and Kindness.
Just Love and Kindness was formed in 2019 by family members of Texarkana resident Jarrod Klein. Klein was stabbed to death in 2017.
“We created the organization in his honor,” said Laura Klein.
The organization is also working with local police departments to try to prevent violence among young people in the area.
Films featured include: The Goonies, The Blindside, Jumanji and Freedom Writers.
The Goonies will be shown at 10 a.m. today. The Blindside airs at 12:30 p.m. today. Jumanji airs Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Freedom Writers airs Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
Christian rapper Young Wag will perform during the intermission.
Children can bring their own snacks, but refreshments will be available during the event. Parental registration is compulsory.
