AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Representatives from the Texas Association of Sports Officials are looking for residents of the Texas Panhandle who want to officiate at high school football games.
According to a press release from the organization, residents of the Texas Panhandle who wish to umpire are encouraged to apply and begin training and other necessary requirements for the position.
New members of the Amarillo Chapter will have the opportunity to officiate games throughout the region starting this season after completing their pre-season training. The statement said new officials will be paired with experienced officials to learn NCAA football rules as well as refereeing mechanics.
“It’s a great way to be on the court, exercise, learn officiating skills and work with other officials and exceptional young people in our region,” the statement read.
