Re.decay, a group from Berlin, will organize a songwriting workshop in Johannesburg

Later this year, Re.decay, a Berlin-based music duo consisting of Emanuel Bender and Owen Ross, will host a songwriting camp in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Young musicians will benefit from the the duo’s industry expertise as they prepare to succeed in the local music industry.


Re.decay has collaborated with some of the most talented artists in the world including Shekinah from South Africa, The Roots, Big Boi, Tim Turner, Slim Lucius, Sigrid, Alle Farben and others. The multinational music duo are dedicated to passing on their industry expertise to future South African stars.

Their songwriting camp will focus on composing, producing, and releasing chart-topping tracks. Young artists were encouraged to apply for the camp, and 12 applicants would be chosen to participate.

During the week-long songwriting camp, Re.decay will guide young musicians through three workshops, a listening party and clear contracts.

WHAT ELSE Anticipate

According to Emanuel Bender, the ensemble will foster an environment where musicians can be creative and learn from each other.

Bender continued, “Viewpoints from a wide variety of industry leaders will present a transparent view of the challenges associated with entering such a competitive business, generating discussions about creativity, self-esteem, women’s empowerment and organized finance.”

To ensure the success of the songwriting camp, Re.decay has partnered with the Africa Rising Conference (ARMC).

“One of the major principles of the ARMC is the building of bridges. Sarah Jane Nicholson, the creator of ARMC, said: “We are delighted to have introduced Re.decay to a number of local partners and to support this fantastic initiative.


Between November 13 and 19, Re.decay’s songwriting camp will take place at Jazzworx Studios in Johannesburg.

Up-and-coming artists are encouraged to apply for this songwriting camp.
