Sesame Workshop launches “Sesame Street” themed play centers

Sesame Workshop, a non-profit media and education organization, is launching the first in a series of Sesame Street-themed Educational Play Centers (EPCs), interactive location-based experiences for young children to foster fun learning. In partnership with the Seoul-based agency AVECS Creative Group, the first EPC opened at the new LOTTE Dongtan Department Store in Gyeonggi Province on March 18.

“We are thrilled to partner with Sesame Workshop to introduce the world’s first educational game center in South Korea,” said Park Hong-bin, Managing Director of AVEC Creative Group. “‘Sesame Street Learn & Play Center’ is a unique multi-educational play facility for children of all ages – offering fun activities, recreation and games in an environment based on the brand philosophy of family education that all Koreans love and trust – ‘Sesame Street.'”

Sesame Street Learn & Play is the first of five EPCs that Sesame Workshop and AVECS Creative Group will launch across Korea over the next five years. Classes include cooking, science, art, music and dance, and messy sensory play. All activities are designed with learning goals for the whole child, infusing hands-on learning throughout play experiences. Decor features characters and settings from “Sesame Street”.

As location-based entertainment and demand for in-person experiences continue to grow globally, Sesame Workshop is creating a variety of in-person engagement opportunities for children and their families. The Sesame Street EPC offers a “Learn by Playing” model with activities such as skills lessons, interactive play experiences and interactions with “Sesame Street” characters, in addition to dining and merchandising opportunities .
