Sign up for training for CFA department chairs

The work of department heads is important and we want to help you along the way. Do you have questions about course allocation? Worried about your rights as a department head or program manager? Join us for one of two workshops this month, where we’ll cover your rights and role as president, important items for reappointment and class assignment, workload, retention, tenure and promotion (RTP), assessment and more.

Attend one of two workshops on September 19 and 22.

“As a former president, I attended the CSU training for presidents every year. I acquired a lot of knowledge. However, I have found that the CFA workshops have helped me prepare and provide guidance in the areas of faculty rights, social justice, equity, self-care as President and best practices for supporting faculty,” said Sandy Kewanhaptewa-Dixon, CFA Pomona Fellow and former Chair of Ethnic and Women’s Studies at Cal Poly Pomona.

“The CFA workshops spent valuable time on the policies and rights of faculty leading to tenure, tenure, and lecturers. I also attended several workshops and trainings and gained valuable insights from past chairs of our Ethnic and Women’s Studies department and across campus. I found wonderful allies as I became more involved with CFA, who provided me with first-hand experiences, perspectives, tools, and listened attentively. There is a welcome and a powerful movement of giving. I hope you will join us for our CFA Chairs workshop,” added Dixon, who will be presenting at the workshops.

The workshops will take place on Monday, September 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, September 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Space is limited and confirmation of attendance is required. Register here.
