The Hackney Community Engagement Project offers mid-term events for young residents

Hackney Council has teamed up with Peabody and other local partners including the Met Police, Arsenal FC and Leyton Orient FC to run a program of events for young people in Pembury, Clarence Road and surrounding areas for half a week.

The activities are part of a common project aimed at positively interacting with young people and supporting their career goals. The initiative supports the Mayor’s priority of making Hackney a safe and welcoming place for all by reducing gang and youth violence.

Throughout the week, young residents will be able to participate in:

  • Football training sessions
  • Dance classes
  • Cooking lessons
  • Arts and crafts workshops
  • Cinema trips
  • Trampoline sessions

The program will conclude on Friday February 18 with a community event at the Pembury Community Center from 3-7pm.

Residents will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from Hackney Council, Peabody Housing the Met Police, Arsenal FC and Leyton Orient FC to get expert advice on job training, work programs learning, leadership and mentorship programs, and mental health support. The community event also features free face paint, raffle, food, and merchandise.
